NCGOP's 3rd District Elects New Leadership at 2025 Convention

WASHINGTON, NC - April 12th, 2025 - The North Carolina Republican Party's 3rd Congressional District convened on April 12, 2025, at Beaufort County Community College in Washington, NC. With 173 delegates in attendance, the convention marked a significant moment of transition and celebration for Republican leadership in eastern North Carolina.

Delegates elected new district officers to serve a two-year term and lead the party through the 2026 election cycle. The following individuals were elected:

  • Chairwoman: Michele Nix, Carteret County
  • 1st Vice Chairwoman: Carole Warnecki, Dare County
  • 2nd Vice Chairwoman: Laura Deptola, Onslow County
  • 3rd Vice Chairwoman: Cindy Sallis, Duplin County
  • Secretary: Stephanie Broughton, Carteret County
  • Assistant Secretary: Christine Card, Onslow County
  • Treasurer: Lori Ready-Digiovanni, Onslow County
  • Assistant Treasurer: Judy Carter, Dare County

In addition to officer elections, 24 members-at-large were chosen to serve on both the District and State Executive Committees, strengthening the region's voice in party affairs statewide.

The convention also honored outgoing District Chairman Dave Wickersham, whose leadership, integrity, and commitment were recognized with a standing ovation from delegates, guests, and party members.

A special moment of recognition was given to Martie Cochran, who received the Jan Grube Volunteer of the Year Award for her outstanding service, dedication, and impact within her local Republican community.

Delegates also deliberated and successfully passed five resolutions, addressing key issues and reaffirming the party's commitment to constitutional principles, individual freedoms, and responsible governance.
